³⁴ Jacob tore his clothing, put sackcloth around his waist, and mourned for his son for many days. ³⁵ All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. He said, “No, I will mourn for my son until I go down to the grave.” So his father wept for him.

³⁶ In Egypt the Midianites sold him to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, who was the captain of the guard.
